Who we are

Scout, at scout.place, is the controller for the personal data described here. Write to hello@scout.place. There is no data protection officer. This notice follows the information a controller has to give when it collects personal data, including under Article 13 of the GDPR.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email, and a hash of your password. We do not store the password itself.
  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in.
  • Watches and notes: the place, the budget, any instructions, and the briefs and findings Scout writes.
  • Billing: if you pay, the Stripe customer id, the subscription, the plan and price, and when the current period ends. The card itself stays with Stripe and Link.
  • Mail: if finding email is turned on, we send a note to your account email when a watch finds something.
  • Page measurement through Vercel Web Analytics. Vercel describes this as aggregated. It does not use a third-party cookie and it is not tied to your account. A data point can include the time, the page, the referrer, a coarse location, and the browser and device type. Vercel's notice has the list.
  • On this browser only: your light or dark choice, and whether the landing intro has already played. Those stay on the device.

Why

The account, the watches, the briefs, the finding emails, and the paid plan are processed to perform the contract with you. Keeping the service secure, and reading aggregated page counts, is a legitimate interest in running Scout. We do not use your account for a marketing list. You do not have to create an account to read the public pages. Without an account, Scout cannot run a watch.

Who else sees it

We use these providers to run the product:

  • Supabase, for the database.
  • Vercel, for hosting and the page measurement above.
  • Stripe, as merchant of record through Managed Payments, for checkout, tax, and the billing portal, with Link for receipts. Stripe's privacy policy describes the payment data it collects.
  • Resend, when a finding email is sent.
  • Firecrawl and the model services that look up public pages and draft a brief. The place, the budget, and your instructions are sent so the brief can be written.

Some of these providers process data in the United States. Their notices describe how they protect a transfer outside the EEA. Scout does not sell personal data.

How long

The account, watches, and briefs stay while the account exists. To delete the account, open Settings, enter your password under Delete account, and confirm. If you are on a paid plan, cancel it under Subscription first: deletion is refused until the plan has ended. This removes your account, your sessions, your watches with their runs and findings, your notebook, your saved places, and the credit, usage, and billing rows Scout keeps for you. It cannot be undone. You can change your name under Settings.

Deleting the account does not remove data held outside the Scout database: the customer record, invoices, and payments Stripe keeps as merchant of record, which Stripe keeps for tax and legal reasons under its own policy; Resend's log of the emails sent to your address; your chats with Scout and the notes it remembers about you, which the agent runtime stores on Vercel; and Vercel's hosting logs. Public facts Scout read from public pages are not tied to you and stay. To have the rest removed, email hello@scout.place from the address on the account. We delete what we can and tell you what has to stay, such as a record we have to keep for tax, fraud, or a dispute.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of the personal data we hold, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to hello@scout.place. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live. The European Data Protection Board publishes the list of EU authorities.

Briefs are not a decision about you

A model drafts the brief, including a pursue, cautious, or pass line about a place. That note is for you to read. It is not an automated decision about your legal rights, your credit, or your eligibility for the product.

Children

Scout is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children.
